ITHACA, NEW YORK – MARCH 8, 2022 – Customers can now search Ursa Space’s archive of Synthetic Aperture Radar satellite imagery via application programming interface (API) on Amazon Web Services (AWS) Data Exchange.
Ursa Space’s Image Services catalog provides an archival database of imagery metadata available for commercial purchase. AWS Data Exchange simplifies access to data, making it easy to find, subscribe to, and use third-party data in the cloud. Ursa Space’s catalog search API on AWS Data Exchange is available for current AWS customers.
AWS customers can subscribe to Ursa Space’s Image Services API, through AWS Data Exchange, and use it to search Ursa’s imagery catalog, which has over 10 million images, all on the cloud. Each week, Ursa Space ingests approximately 25,000 SAR images into their image services database, and the extended virtual constellation also includes optical imagery and other sensor data, such as radio frequency and multispectral.
“By offering our data through an API on AWS Data Exchange, we make it easier for our customers to integrate it with other AWS services,” said Judson Powers, Director of Engineering at Ursa Space. “We are leveraging our engineering capabilities to streamline search queries, view pre-existing SAR imagery, and eliminate redundancies in new tasking.”
